Flower Gardening Workshop Series

These three workshops are planned as a series, but you can also choose just one or two that work for your needs and schedule.

Each workshop will include refreshments and plenty of time for questions. During registration you’ll have a chance to mention any specific questions you might have.

Materials and instruction provided by Flathead Farmworks’ owner, April (a professional flower farmer with 10 years of experience). Hosted by The Sisters Bloom. Workshop address provided after registration.

Intro to Flower Gardening

Saturday, March 8, 10-11:30am

Learn how to grow beautiful flowers for your landscape or for cutting. Maybe you want to make bouquets for friends, enjoy flowers on your kitchen table all summer, or just get your hands in the dirt. We'll discuss easy-to-grow flowers for the Flathead Valley, whether you are hoping for a backyard flower garden or just a few colorful pots on your porch.

The workshop will include:

  • Recommendations for flower varieties that thrive in our climate.

  • Tools and supplies you’ll need.

  • Tips for planning where and when to start your flower garden.

Intro to Seed Starting

Saturday, April 5, 10-11:30am

Learn how to start your own flower garden from seed! We’ll discuss how to start seeds indoors and keep them alive, and when and how to transplant them outside. You’ll leave with a small tray planted with seeds that you can nurture at home.

The workshop will include:

  • Seed starting demonstration.

  • Tips for choosing and buying seeds.

  • Tools and supplies you’ll need.

  • How to read a seed packet.

  • Hands-on seed planting in a small tray to take home.

Troubleshooting

Saturday, May 10, 10-11:30am

We’ll gather to discuss your flower gardening questions, seedlings, successes and failures, and share tips for a beautiful summer of flowers. Whether you’ve attended the two previous workshops or not, this is a great opportunity to bring any and all questions, get support and encouragement, and get ready for gardening season!

The workshop will include:

  • Tips for transplanting and watering to give your flowers a good start.

  • Recommendations for flower varieties you can direct seed until early summer.

  • How to keep your flowers blooming longer.
